Atelier Kinshasa

In 2010 OMSK stayed in Kinshasa, the capital of Congo, for 4 months. Lotte van den Berg lived and worked in the Ndjili district together with Anoek Nuyens, Rachid Laachir, Daan ‘t Sas, Fierman Baarspul, Rianne van Hassel and Guido Kleene. They set up an open studio at Espace Kola and worked there together with various Congolese artists including Toto Kisaku, Papy Mbwiti, Jovial Mbenga, Starlette Matata, Ministre de la Poubelle, Joseph, Fabrice and many others. Ank Daamen, Jellichje Reijnders and Bart Kusters visited them for a shorter period.
They did not work towards a premiere. The group decided to let the economy of the street and the time that prevails there lead them. The dynamic of Kinshasa led them. Every day they looked at what happened and how it could be dealt with. Every Friday evening during Vendri Soir, they showed their work to passersby and visitors in the open studio at Espace Kola.
